Never planned to go to snow this year.. until we watched the weather forecast on TV last night.. We chose the nearest mountain - Lake Mountain as our snow destination. It is just about 1.15 hours drives from our place.
We went out for a quick shopping for the snow trip.. however it's not easy to get cheap waterproof clothing - parka and pants - until we went to Rebel at the last minutes... Cool thing they do have ski hire services over there and its much cheaper than getting new ones...
Today just woke up at 8ish and getting excited to head off to the snow! Stopped by McCas for brekky and continued our journey... The traffic was unexpected busy until gone passed Lilydale.. All the way after Marysville, we can see the months after Victoria serious bushfires effects... most trees were burnt.. and smells still.... On the way to the toll booth, we can see snowballs along the road... and the road was wet.. The mountain view was awesome and makes visitors stopped their cars for the great views...
Arrived at the toll booth, it costs $35 for the admission fee.. OHNO.. didnt have enough cash to pay for it and no EFTPOS facilities, therefore the friendly staff was asking us to pay the admission fee when we arrived at main centre at the top! Parked the car, wore the parka on.. and ready for our day!!! Stepped into the building and go straight to Level 1 administration office to pay the fee! :) All done.. phew~
Stepped out to the snow... FEEL GOOOOOOOOD... the snow are white and its just amazing! Really enjoy the moment we were there... We then headed off to the walking trail, as dont plan to ski.. due to my poor skiing skill... haha.. bad bad bad...
Took heaps of photos here... sat down there, looked at the kids playing hard with their toboggans.. parents making snowmen, grandma sat down there with their grandchildren, couples walking around etc... We were there making angel wings, iglo, snowballs fight and sleeping with icy pillow!~! muahahhaaa.... It's all fun!!
We had lunch at the bistro.. fast/junk food.. that keep our tummy filled... It's still early.. then we decided to hire snow shoes (with boots and pole) + trail pass.. Walking at the ski trail... Really has not fun if walking.. but just myself too chicken and fear of the narrow hills there... however.. NOT AT ALL... just regret that I didnt choose ski hire instead... This place is really good for beginners.. because no ski lift there... I promised I will go for skiing the next time i visiting Lake Mountain. Walked around the hill.. honestly it's exhausted.. but the views were great... Not many people skiing and we did enjoy the quietness up the snow! Also never forget, it was amazing at the top of the hill with the sunshine...
It's about 3.15pm.. time to head back to Melbourne after returned the hire equipments. What a snow day!!! Love it.... :)
